Charlotte Akin (M.Ed. U of Portland) is an experienced teacher of gifted students in cluster, full-time, and pull-out classrooms. She is a published author in the field of gifted education and has received teaching awards at the local, state, and national levels. Charlotte is a board member of the Washington Association for Educators of Talented and Gifted, and was co-recipient with Roger Fisher for WAETAG's Distinguished Leadership Award in 2006. She also manages the Highly Capable Programs for Evergreen School District. Charlotte works with districts, teachers, and parents in program and staff development and other issues involving the education of gifted children.
Roger Fisher (M.S. University of Oregon) is an experienced teacher of gifted students. With expertise in integrated curriculum design and implementation, Roger has worked with gifted learners in cluster groups, self contained classrooms, summer challenge programs, and currently teaches gifted children in grades 2-5 in a district wide pull-out model. Roger served as WAETAG conference chair for the 2005 statewide conference, and was presented with the WAETAG 2006 Distinguished Leadership Award for his work on behalf of gifted children. Roger works with parent groups, teachers, and administrators to tailor relevant and engaging workshops and presentations.
Karen A. Owen (M.Ed. U of Oregon) has done extensive post-masters studies in the field of gifted education. She has a wide variety of classroom and administrative experience developing and facilitating programs for gifted students. Karen was recognized as the 2002-03 Air Force Association's Teacher of the Year for the Portland region. Karen consults and is available for grant writing assistance to districts.
